I was raised in a union household that understood the value of a day’s work and the struggle of providing for a family. My folks volunteered throughout their lives for local Democrats because they knew workers and families in our community needed leaders who understood them. Those values continue to guide me.
Affordable Housing
Our communities are struggling to provide the housing Montanans need. I’ve worked directly on this issue in East Helena and have shown that through collaborative efforts responsible growth is possible. We need committed leaders at the state level who understand the barriers to growth of our cities.
Fully Funded K-12
Montana is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. But we’ve failed to commit the resources our public schools and teachers need to educate our kids. It’s time to stop shifting resources to private and religious charter schools and fund our public schools.
Working Class Montanans
Prices and property taxes continue to rise while the ‘leadership’ currently running Montana attempts to shift the blame to anyone but themselves. We need accountability and solutions that support working class families instead of giving tax cuts to the wealthy.
Pro Choice
Abortion care is healthcare. Healthcare decisions should be made between the individual and their doctor without government interference. Having had a life-threatening ruptured ectopic pregnancy, my wife, McCall, and I know this issue personally.
LGBTQ+ Equality
The last session’s assault on the LGBTQ+ community was an absolute embarrassment to Montana. I strongly believe in the dignity of every human being and that we must ensure the LGBTQ+ community in Montana is protected by law.
Protecting Public Lands
Access to Montana’s public lands is part of what makes Montana our home. I will fight any attempt to limit access to these lands, to sell them to private corporations, or to transfer their management to the state.
Affordable Healthcare
Access to affordable healthcare and insurance in Montana is increasingly difficult to secure. Montanans shouldn’t be forced to choose between paying for necessities or going to the doctor. I’ll fight to protect Medicaid expansion and for increased access to mental health services throughout Montana.
